The Land is Yours

I am currently making my new feature length documentary about Kew bridge Eco village. About three months ago I took the time to make a short film about the place as part of the 'What is your world view" series of short films which I co - direct with Jason Ramasami

I have been living at the Eco village for four months and it has changed a great deal since we made this film. I have already shot enough for a new feature documentary and am looking forward to filming and living there in the winter . Its gonna get tough :)

The Real Spiderman

Three years ago I put my first video on Youtube. It was a clip of me making a cup of tea dressed up as Spiderman, shot on a mobile phone by my mate Leo Leigh the hit counter has just gone over 1 million!!! Im so proud

Apart from having to deal with the fact that more people have watched me make a cup of tea in a tight Lycra suit than anything else I have ever done, I have also had to put up with three years of abuse from the comments section which are infinitely more funny than the actual video.

Here is a small sample

Elevate Festival Film project

I just returned from Graz in Austria. I was Directing 12 journalism students to film interviews and videos and edit out a round up video of each day of the Elevate Festival "With an extensive program of discussions, workshops, lectures, and film presentations, Elevate Festival 2009 wishes to foster a better understanding of serious world crises (in the areas of climate and energy, natural resources, nutrition, economy, politics and media) that are currently posing significant challenges to humanity. At this juncture, the focus lies on examinations of alternative perspectives and analyses diverging from inadequate explanatory models, which are frequently distorted by political interests and dominated by mainstream media and public discourse"

Each day I worked with the students to film every discussion and every act in the night time to create a series of round up videos of the whole day which you can watch here. I think Day 4 is the best. the students seemed to really learn alot and I think by the last two videos our output was very professional, amazing considering that the students had 1 term of filmming and editing experience. Big respect to my team and Daniel Erlacher for asking me to come to Austria and direct the project

One Taste Hyde Park, Eco and Blackpool

I recently shot a gig in Hyde Park for One Taste . i'm especially happy with the way this Joe driscol track came out. its a great track and Joe is a super cool dude big respect to Paul of OneTaste for cutting it together .

I haven't been blogging or doing alot online recently as i have started what i think will be my new feature length documentary its about a squatted Eco village next to Kew bridge, The evolution of the site the characters that live on the site the peace activism off of the site and the daily struggles of trying to run a sustainable community next to an urban environment. I have taken a gonzo approach to making the film and have moved into the village to become a fully functioning member of the community, It should be a interesting film and if not then it doesnt matter because I am learning so much being there. so watch this space because at some point i will emerge with a new film also more live music stuff coming very soon

here is an article about the place

also I recently Edited a series of documentaries about the British seaside town of Blackpool. I am very proud of the editing and it was a pleasure working with Director Leo Leigh. I think it is a touching, funny and sad set of films which are essential viewing so go view them here:

Sound of Rum - Rumba

I finally finished the new Sound of Rum video

It took me ages but its finally done and Im very happy with the result. I shot over 20 live gigs over the course of the last 6 months and once I decided that I was going to make a video made up of live footage I knew that for it to be interesting I had to shoot alot of gigs. I also wanted to experiment with animating stills.

I wanted the film to have an extra visual element as well as the live stuff which I feel was maybe lacking from the last video. The whole thing grew organically but was basically inspired by the energy and experience of driving around london in Kate Tempest car to gigs and being around the band for the last 6 months, also the lyrics refer to London many times so it seemed right to have London as a character. To make up the sequence that begins flying over Tower bridge I drove from finsbury Park down to peckham with Clair Neal who took 1500 photographs along the way. I used a Cannon G9 with a low shutter speed throughout. I like to think of it as a 4 minute documentary that captures the energy of being in a hard working up and coming band. Sound of Rum are destined for big things in my opinion Kates lyrics and Archie and Ferry's music compliment each other in a great way and after spending time with them in the studio i can say that their new stuff is going to blow people away.
so go download their EP Balance

I shot the video on a Sony A1 a Cannon XH - A1 and panasonic HVX200
Many thanks to Suresh Kara from Documovie and Alex Dawe from Quarantine for lending me various cameras throughout the process.

If you like it please help to spread it around on youtube and stuff like that. I will be releasing the best of the live performances that I filmed over the coming weeks /months and also making a short documentary about the band
